Ahead of Typhoon Molave’s arrival, Vietnamese authorities issued urgent warnings for residents in vulnerable, low-lying areas or within 100 meters of the beach to evacuate or be ready for evacuation. The storm was predicted to be one of the most powerful to strike Vietnam in 20 years, posing a significant threat to the region.
Priority Packing and Safe Shelter
Since our home was near the beach, our priority was securing the property and finding a safer place to ride out the storm. We packed our essentials and checked into a familiar hotel with a reliable backup generator.
Sheltering at the Hilton Da Nang
We chose to stay at the Hilton Da Nang, a luxurious 5-star resort on Bach Dang Street in Hai Chau. From the hotel, we enjoyed excellent views of the Han River, Han River Bridge, Lady Buddha, and Son Tra Mountain. Although the hotel was not fully booked, we felt safe and well cared for by the friendly staff, which made a huge difference during such an intense storm.
Pho comfort in a storm
In the midst of Typhoon Molave, there was something uniquely comforting about a steaming bowl of Vietnamese beef pho. The rich, aromatic broth, infused with spices like cinnamon, star anise, and cloves, warms you from the inside out. The tender beef, silky rice noodles, and fresh herbs bring layers of flavor and heartiness, making it the perfect meal for stormy weather. Enjoyed from the comfort of my hotel room, a bowl of pho provides not just nourishment, but also a sense of comfort amidst the chaos outside.
As Typhoon Molave roared outside, the comfort of Vietnamese beef pho and the safety of the Hilton Danang became the perfect refuge. With its elegant surroundings, stunning views of the Han River, and attentive staff, the hotel provided more than just a shelter, it was a haven of warmth and hospitality. Paired with the soothing experience of a hearty bowl of Pho, these moments transformed a stormy night into a memory comfort.
Whether it’s a typhoon or just a rainy day, seeking solace in the right place can make all the difference.
