Embracing the Future: The Whoosh High-Speed Train in Indonesia

As a travel enthusiast always on the lookout for new adventures, I couldn’t be more excited about my upcoming trip to experience the highly anticipated Whoosh high-speed train. This revolutionary mode of transportation is the first of its kind in Indonesia and promises to change the way people travel between Jakarta and Bandung. I can’t wait to share all the details with you.

Getting There

Form my research so far the Whoosh high-speed train service operates between Tegalluar Station in Bandung and Halim Station in Jakarta. To reach Bandung, you can take a flight to Husein Sastranegara International Airport and then a short taxi ride to Tegalluar Station. Alternatively, Padalarang Station, another departure point, is accessible via a feeder train from Bandung Station, with convenient shuttle services from various city locations. We have book a roundtrip from Jakarta.

Ticket Prices

Whoosh offers competitive prices across three classes:

Premium Economy: IDR 200,000 (Mon-Thu) / IDR 250,000 (Fri-Sun)

Business Class: IDR 450,000

First Class: IDR 600,000.

Tickets can be purchased online via the Whoosh app, website or at vending machines and counters at the stations.

The Journey

The Whoosh high-speed train travels at speeds up to 350 km/h, ensuring a smooth and fast journey. The trip from Jakarta to Bandung takes approximately 45 minutes, a significant reduction from the usual 3-hour drive. The onboard experience is said to be excellent, with modern amenities including comfortable seating, free Wi-Fi, power sockets and even a mini café.

Stations and Schedule

Halim Station (Jakarta): Accessible via the LRT Jabodebek Bekasi line or taxi.

Padalarang Station (Bandung): Connected to Bandung Station by a complimentary feeder train.

The service runs over 40 trips on weekdays and 48 trips on weekends, providing ample flexibility for travelers.

While the Whoosh service is a marvel of modern engineering, it’s not without its teething problems. Some initial feedback highlights occasional delays and the need for more frequent feeder train services to better synchronize with the main high-speed train schedule. Despite these minor hiccups, apparently, the overall reception has been overwhelmingly positive, with many praising the comfort and efficiency of the service.

My anticipation for this trip is at an all-time high. Experiencing the Whoosh train is not just about getting from one place to another; it’s about embracing the beginnings of the future of travel in Indonesia. Whether you’re traveling for business or leisure. I am looking forward to a journey filled with speed, comfort and unforgettable scenery.

Stay tuned as I embark on this high-speed adventure and share every moment of this incredible experience. Happy travels!
