How to Make a Quick Bread Pudding Using Hotdog Rolls

If you’re looking for a simple and delicious dessert, this quick bread pudding made with hotdog rolls is perfect! It’s an easy way to use up leftover rolls and turn them into a comforting treat. Here’s how you can whip up this delightful dessert in no time.

A delicious bread pudding

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup milk: Use whole milk for a richer pudding, but any milk will work.
  • 1 tsp butter: To add a bit of richness.
  • 1 egg: Helps bind everything together.
  • Lemon zest: Adds a fresh, citrusy note (optional).
  • Salt: A pinch to enhance flavors.
  • Cinnamon: To taste, for that warm, spiced flavor.
  • 2 hotdog rolls: Stale or fresh, these are the base of the pudding.

For Coating Ramekin:

  • 1 tsp butter: To grease the ramekin.
  • 1 tsp sugar: For a sweet, caramelized crust.

Directions:

  1. Preheat Your Oven:
Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) so it’s ready to go when your pudding is assembled.
  2. Prepare the Pudding Mixture:
In a medium bowl, combine the milk, butter, egg, lemon zest (if using), salt, and cinnamon. Use a whisk or blender to mix until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  3. Prepare the Ramekin:
Grease a ramekin with the 1 tsp of butter, making sure to coat the sides well. Sprinkle the 1 tsp of sugar inside the ramekin, turning it to evenly coat the bottom and sides. This will create a lovely sweet crust.
  4. Assemble the Pudding:
Tear the hotdog rolls into small pieces and place them in the prepared ramekin. Pour the creamy milk mixture over the bread pieces, ensuring they are well-soaked. If you like, you can add raisins or other dried fruits at this stage.
  5. Bake:
Place the ramekin in the oven and bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the top is golden and a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Cool and Serve:
Let the bread pudding cool slightly before serving. It’s delicious on its own or with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of cream.

Tips:

  • Stale Rolls: Using slightly stale rolls can actually work better because they absorb the custard mixture more effectively.
  • Flavor Variations: Feel free to add nuts, chocolate chips, or spices to customize your pudding.

Enjoy your homemade bread pudding! It’s a quick, comforting dessert that’s sure to please.
